Let us take you back 150 years on this tour of Indy’s oldest neighborhood and most ecclectic cultural district!
It’s fitting that we begin the tour at City Market where food vendors and local purveyors of produce, baked goods, dairy and meat products have been satisfying the needs of their customers for over a century.
From there we’ll stride up the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and over to Lockerbie where we’ll learn about this historic neighborhood and it’s residents that include a famous rapper from the 90’s – the 1890’s that is!
Then it is onward to the Mass Ave cultural district, a wonderful collection of galleries, theatres, shops & dining that are unique to Indianapolis. We’ll show you where you can find the oldest restaurant in the city and the oldest shoe store in the country! We’ll finish the tour at Monument Circle – the heart and soul of the city.
This tour covers ~2 miles over the course of 75 minutes with numerous storytelling stops. This is a perfect tour for guests of all ages – especially those interested in historic homes and architecture as well as shopping and dining with a local flair.
Tour is offered every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 1:00 pm. We highly recommend coming over to historic City Market and enjoying lunch from one of the great local eateries prior to the tour!
