Would you believe that behind only Washington D.C, Indianapolis has the largest collection of war memorials & monuments in the United States? It’s true! And you can see nearly all of them on this tour!
We’ll start in the center of downtown at the monument that started it all – an iconic limestone tower nearly as tall as the Statue of Liberty. From there we head into a gorgeous park extending for five city blocks where we’ll learn how it became the mix of memorials and green space that exists today.
After a brief walk along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, we’ll stroll beside the Central Canal where we’ll find three additional memorials that have been placed alongside this scenic waterway.
This tour covers ~2 miles over the course of 2 hours with numerous storytelling stops. This is a perfect tour for guests of all ages – especially those interested in public art, architecture and learning more about how Indianapolis has honored the brave men and women that have served our country.
Tour is offered every Tuesday & Thursday at 1:00 pm.
