One of the largest urban state parks in the United States is just steps away from the heart of downtown! This tour tells the story of how this industrial area was transformed into the immense green space and community of museums and attractions we see today. We'll begin on the south lawn of the Indiana Statehouse and then stroll along the Central Canal and learn it's history, visiting public art installations and war memorials along the way.
Nestled right in downtown Indianapolis you'll find neighborhoods and cultural districts have been part of the fabric of our community for as many as 150 years. This tour will begins from the west plaza of historic City Market and will lead you to Lockerbie, the oldest surviving neighborhood in Indianapolis. Then it is off to the Mass Ave district where you'll find an eclectic mix of boutique shops, art galleries and public art installations before concluding in the at Monument Circle.
Explore the largest collection of war memorials and monuments in the United States outside of Washington DC! This tour begins on the south steps of historic Monument Circle where we'll learn all about this iconic landmark. We then continue on to visit installations scattered just a few blocks north on the 24 acre War Memorial Plaza. From there, it is off to the Central Canal where we'll find additional memorials including one dedicated to the single largest loss of life in the history of the the US Navy.
